end of day notes

Got the chemise done; finished the hem while watching "Blackadder Goes Forth". The instructions for inserting the neck drawstring mention that the pattern will need to be altered if it shows above the dress neckline - now they tell me! No matter - it's simple enough to alter/remake (shudder!) if I have to. Next step: corset outer and completion of that project.

Have been swilling water all day because the weather's more like May 1 than Nov. 1 - sunny and nearly 80F (!). Enjoying it while it's here, but I know it can't last.

Tomorrow the historic fencing group I've been wondering about is finally meeting near me, so I'm going to go check it out and learn more.

Link of the Day: Fluffer Trax (thanks [livejournal.com profile] geekchick) - "Premium Adult Sound". I was hoping to hear some "techno porn" but so far it sounds like something out of Austin Powers or a '60s spy movie - terrifically bad and cheesy, but in a good way :) Listen and embrace your inner lounge lizard!

Doncha just HATE it when, instead of sticking all these warnings at the beginning, pattern companies assume you're gonna read all the instructions before you begin? ;-)

Oh, I know! It's extraordinary the GALL that they expect you to read start to finish before taking scissor to fabric. Damn!

Especially as I'm having to make the chemise to go under the corset so that I can take measurements over the corset for the dress!

Sounds like a perfect catch-22: you need the dress's neckline in order to adjust the chemise, yet can't make the dress until chemise and corset are fully constructed! :p
