costume schizophrenia

If you've been reading my journal for the past few days, you've probably seen me talk about Regency stays, an embroidered partlet, a Vionnet cape, and fabric for sleeves in the past couple of days.

Now, I don't want y'all to think I'm fickle or scatterbrained - I'm not (well, not too much). Indeed, I seldom work on more than one project at a time. However, availability of materials + hyperactive need to always be working on something = flitting from project to project to do what I can.

So here's the current game plan:

1) Sleeves: found some red-orange linen and burgundy flannel (probably cotton - I did a burn test, it's not plastic and not protein, so I'm guessing it's mostly cellulosic) scrap that I can use. Should be simple (crosses fingers), and one day (oh happy day!) when I find the right wool at the right price I'll do it all historically correct-like. But this will tide me over until then.

2) Embroidered partlet: still stitching away while watching BBC America and Farscape reruns - I've finished the front opening and am working on the collar.

3) Vionnet cape: I'm looking into options for getting wide enough paper to draft a full size pattern.

4) Regency stays: on indefinite hold as I may go in with someone for a bulk fabric order on the lining. Am expecting the chemise pattern, and will go in search of budget cotton batiste when it gets here.

I've always assumed that having multiple projects on the go is one of the signs of genius [as is the fact that I'm usually reading 3-5 books at once ... that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it ;-)]. Besides, a person NEEDS a project for every mood, no?

:D Yeah, I like the "genius" idea! I am also familiar with the 3-5 books going at once thing :) Ah, we of the multitasking minds...
