traffic stupidity etc.

Today I spent half an hour sitting on the exit ramp to my workplace. So did everyone else, so I was not noticeably late for work. Not sure what it was, but its a toss-up between the construction near the highway or the fact that most entrances to the nearby NIH main campus are closed, and cars are being checked very carefully.

I am not sick, but I am feeling very run down. It took me about 3 hours to lay out and cut the futon coat pattern yesterday, and another 2 to mark it. Sounds physically easy but it involved a lot of standing up and leaning over the table for cutting, which put my back and legs in pain for most of yesterday. Miss Spice made it a little more fun by "helping" hold down the pattern - it seems she just knows how I hate the cutting out process and so she tries to entertain me.

So here I sit working on a nice cup of Swiss Chocolate Almond coffee in defiance of my attempt to cut back on the caffiene - woke up late and didn't have time to sit in front of my sun lamp before work. I really overdid it yesterday. I have got to learn to moderate or by Friday I WILL be sick.

The buses - campus and Montgomery County - are still there. However, most entrances to the campus have been closed except for one on 355 and one on Old Georgetown. There is a police car at these entrances. All vehicles have to crawl through these 2 very busy entrances, and I doubt a car without an up-to-date NIH parking sticker could get in at all.

The buildings themselves are checking IDs and checking bags.

It is really kind of freaky, when you think about it.
