Coolness factor = 10

The Spacecraft That Will Not Die - Pioneer 10, launched 'way back in 1974, was heard from earlier this month, even though it has outlasted it's expected working life by ~20 years and is far past Pluto at this point.

I just think that is SO COOL - predictable statements re: "they don't make 'em like they used to" aside, I think it is just astounding that this thing is still transmitting, and still being recieved.

This is the probe that has the Carl Sagan-designed informational plaque that they stuck to it "just in case" - at this rate, it might just get to someone who can read it, even if Pioneer 10's transmitters give out and can't tell us about it.
