lull

For me the Christmas season is this strange "in between" time. Terribly busy but not very inspired, I'm mostly just getting done what needs to get done and not starting anything new until January.

The Regency gown is on hold because I am still not sure of the fit and don't feel motivated enough to lace back up and check it again. I do still have my hand into some sewing - I'm continuing to unpick a set of burgundy silk-blend curtains that want to be Something Beautiful, but I don't know what yet, and they need their seams undone/cotton backing removed before they can be Anything anyway. Keeps my hands busy without demanding too much mental input.

Fencing regularly - one of the few places I feel warm/shiny during The Lull. Got 7 out of 19 at last weekend's E and under women's tournament and am learning to grit my teeth, dig in, and never surrender.

Not ready for or thrilled with the cold and snow. Hiding under blankets with mock-Ugg slippers and cats.

This weekend: probably Tron:Legacy in 3D IMax with something tasty before or after. I want salt, though I seem to be surrounded by sugar.

We're going to visit with D.'s AND my family for Xmas-New Years, so I commence packing sometime next week.

Speaking of Regency outfits, I've had a steampunk friend ask me to attend the Spring Ball. I thought you might enjoy it as well.

Hope your trip is fun!

Hmm... perhaps so! Thanks for the tip!

I'm sure I'll be done by May :P

Ooh, I'm looking forward to seeing Tron as soon as I'm back in the US next week, hope it's good, I have a really soft spot for the first one.

I remember my dad showing me the first Tron - at the time I liked the visuals but had no idea what the plot was about because I wasn't familiar with computers the way he was ("users", what's that?) The concept was incredibly forward-thinking for the time.
