lack of posting
In the ramp up to Nationals, I took a break from sewing. Now I'm back with a vengeance and I've discovered just how much I can do when I don't spend valuable time browsing online for shoes:
The trim is the cotton twill tape I dyed back in April. It's a dark navy color and contrasts nicely, I think. The pattern is loosely adapted from the first one here.
The tape is stitched on entirely by hand and is fairly easy to work with, but it's time consuming.
I will likely put another stripe down the center, but I'm waiting until the buttons are on to determine placement.
The next step is to sew in the lining (more hand sewing) and then sort out the shoulder "wings" and waist tabs/skirt - I'm thinking a solid tab with a double line of trim; same on wings. I'm also going to add a hidden lacing strip in each arm so I can tie on sleeves.
