costume progress
I worked out the pattern for the wrap skirt of the Xev costume today. I've also figured out that if I'm very short on fabric I can "fake" the covered front half of the wrap skirt (damn, I LOVE some of the tricks they used in the Renaissance to conserve the fancy fabric!)
I have not worn a skirt this short since college. Good thing that a wig is in order for this costume - I'll be harder to recognize.
Still, I am very nervous about cutting the good fabric until I am absolutely, positively sure about what I want to do. I hope I hear back from my one possible contact soon (if you're reading, this is a broad hint :P); if not I will bravely go where my scissors haven't gone before.
Meanwhile, I'm going to try to work on the belt and gauntlets tomorrow - I have a great deal of the black matte vinyl to work with and can get more if need be.
