My second competition "back" is tomorrow, and I'm a little nervous.
Less than I was because last night V. and B. helped me iron out my "deer in the headlights" problems against aggressive fencers from a couple of weeks ago. That's not to say it will work in situ, but it does in practice and I have a plan now, which is more than I had before:
This advice might be useful in other endeavors as well - so much gets by me because I flinch at crucial moments.
General goal: to get into the mindset and stay there. If I can do that, I'll be happy (I WILL, doGdammit!) even if my performance sucks.
I'm hoping the weather won't interfere with my plans tomorrow - it could make the fairly short trip too long and cut out the power (and hence the scoring machines).
Other stuff: I've been doing laundry, playing with my new iPhone (thanks
dotheranon!) and practicing for tomorrow since I got back Tuesday. As such I've not been LJing or reading email intensely. If you've got news or I need to see something, point me at it 'cos chances are I missed it :/
Going to pack for tomorrow. Sunday I will do something non-fencing related, I swear.....:P

- Counterattack will only work once against a good fencer, and only if I set it up beforehand. Mix it up!
- Retreat, and don't hesitate on the first step.
- Don't hesitate, period, when I have the advantage.
- Note where my opponents like to finish - chances are they'll do it again.
