travel jitters

Taking a break from packing (which must happen tonight, as we're leaving asap after I get off work tomorrow). I'm having pre-travel anxiety, which always happens, to the same degree no matter how far/for how long I'll be out of town. My chief anxieties are:

  • The cats will choose this weekend to get locked in bathrooms or chew through the wiring
  • My parents will get sick/have an accident and I won't know about it
  • Something exciting/important/cool will happen at home and I won't know about it

All unfounded, all stupid, but all present. Until I actually get to where I'm going, then it goes away.

I'm packing light this time. All black or jeans; if I need something funkier, by gum I'll be in NYC and I'll get it there. No superfluous makeup. As long as I remember my meds I can replace anything I forget at the local CVS.

One spot on my hand is still itching for no reason. Perhaps best to pack Rhuligel as well.
