Dangerous Beauty, etc.

Just finished watching "Dangerous Beauty", about the lives of courtesans in 16th c. Venice. Beautiful movie - aesthetically (duh) and the story is good too (really!) I wouldn't trade then for now, but it's nice to know that at least a few women managed to eke out an existence other than nun/cloistered wife in such a repressive time and place. I also liked the emphasis that courtesanship was about more than just sex - it was about imagination, creativity, art, education, etc. Actually, ideally sex should also be about imagination, creativity, art, education, etc. but that's another rant....

Was surprised to realize that one of the actresses playing a repressed Venetian wife was Naomi Watts (Jet Grrl)! Would never have guessed from her appearance or acting - good range.

Went to the chiropractor after work and there were a lot of crunching sounds. My back feels better but tired, and I need to keep doing the hot/cold applications for awhile. I really want to be better by next week - I had to bug out of my free fencing session last night because lunging was just too painful.
