more fun with technology
In addition to my temperamental internet connection, there's a new factor at play: today I came home to find two workmen in my kitchen, with the fridge pulled away from the wall. Turns out that a couple of the outlets have gone out, and this might be indicative of a broken wire in the wall or similar.
They had to cut power to do some tests, just as the sun was setting, so D. and I huddled up in bed and struggled to read in the fading light while our power flickered on and off. The fridge is now connected to another outlet with an extension cord, but the maintenance folks are going to have to come out again tomorrow and do more of the same.
Con: coming home after a long day to strangers in my house, shellshocked cats, much of my tidying for J.'s visit undone. Pro: take care of it now rather than next week when the time changes and there really ISN'T any light with which to read, maybe this will also resolve some of the patchy connectivity. D. even got to sweep out all the dust elephants that we just knew were gathered under the fridge but never expected to be able to remove!
Fencing: only 4 people (!?) Must bug fencing buddies to show up as we only have 3 classes left for the semester!
Weather: finally turned on the heat today; hard freeze predicted for tonight. Got out winter coat as well.
Food: More of D.'s toxic brownies - feeling very good right now!
