denied!

I can't believe I played in traffic for 45 minutes last night in an attempt to get a jump on my pattern competition - only to actually get to JoAnn's and find that it's closed because of a power outage!

Luckily we were spared, but lost cable (and hence cable-modem) access until today. We're supposed to get more of the same tonight, but I'm going to risk the possibility of finding the fencing club closed anyway :P

ok... not so much :P

At 6:30 the sky turned black and Thunderstorm() started running again. I decided it was too dangerous to risk having a tree fall on the car, so I didn't get to fencing after all :( Turns out my carpool partner A. also had to bug out - he lost power so he and his wife had to hustle to find a hotel room!

I think it's fair to say that this wouldn't have been a great evening to be hooked up to an electric body cord!

So, I was sitting around in my fencing knickers with nowhere to go, so I did some footwork and watched the 3rd Selberg fencing video. His technique for teaching right-of-way is wonderfully simple - wield a "live" (i.e., sharp, no safety rubber tip) weapon - instinctually no one will risk walking into it just for the sake of a touch!

I wish I had more time to fence AND sew. Efforts to eliminate sleep have not worked - I had to drink some chamomile tea just to come down from all the coffee I've slurped today.
