weekend in review
Had a busy weekend in spite of myself!
I did finally finish the duster, mentioned a few entries back. I'm still working off that "post project hangover", that period of time where I'm so glad to be finished but am lost without something to work on. I cleaned up the sewing area (including pulling ground-in threads out of the carpet) and oiled both the sewing machine and the serger in preparation for the next BUUUURRRRN! The duster itself is worn attractively by my dress mold, before it gets packed up to go to Costume Con.
Movies: D. and I tried to watch "Original Sin", but don't let the title fool you - the cinematography is great but the story is deadly dull, so much so that we didn't finish. I tell you, it's a sad, sad day when graphic nudity/sex involving Angelina Jolie/Antonio Banderas can't salvage a film :P
I thought I had a massage appointment with H. set up for Sunday; turns out it is 2 Sundays hence. Still, it got me out of the house for a nice drive through downtown Takoma Park during some of the first spring weather in nearly a week. It's a funky little granola-y old-town kind of neighborhood, with art video rental and vintage stores. I hadn't been down there in several years; I might try and go early for my massage appointment and walk around a bit.
Today opened birthday gifts - rude gag gifts of wrinkle cream and Fixadent from my sister, who is reveling in the fact that I'm 30 and she's 28 (:P). Many books, which is good because I'm going to be spending lots of time in airports in the next couple of weeks. I think the latest Alison Weir and some vampire fiction will be good for the upcoming Chicago trip. I've decided to put off having a birthday "event" - money is tight and time even tighter until sometime in May or even later.
Now I sit coding a form for my "freelance" work. I hope I don't end up doing HTML in my sleep (it's happened. It's not pretty).
