brief news commentary

Should women be drafted? IMHO yes - if there's going to be drafting at all, it should be equal responsibility for equal rights, and all of that. Yes, women are usually smaller and weaker than men, but so much war is conducted at a distance or with a massive gun/bomb that it renders such differences irrelevant.

Cloning: I am highly skeptical, given that it took hundreds of miscarried lambs before those Scottish scientists finally got Dolly. I'll believe it when the "Raelians" show the baby with a full DNA workup to compare to that of her mother/original genetic donor. If true, frankly I think it is ethically wrong for them to even try this given the extreme difficulty in cloning animals. And talk about vanity - though I think it would actually be rather creepy to have a duplicate of myself running around out there.
