Watched the first part of "Taken" on Sci-Fi. It's ok, I guess - nothing more outrageous than an average episode of "The X-Files" during their heyday. I will probably keep watching just to see how the storylines converge.
They do seem to be sticking to established UFO lore (Roswell, grey aliens, crashed spaceships) but I am sure there will be departures from ufology "dogma" - the simple fact of the matter is that most UFO sightings are vague lights in the sky that might or might not be anything, and that does not make for exciting plot development.
I saw ads for "Tremors: The Series" (they cancelled "Farscape" and are now putting out THIS tripe??? What are they smoking??) and for the Children of Dune miniseries (they're skipping "Dune Messiah", which I did by accident listening to the audio books. C of D still makes sense, but I do wonder why they're skipping it. Costume note - what I saw looks good, but not as great as Lynch's Dune).
It is far too late and getting far too cold - 20F and falling. I'm going to crawl into bed with a cat and read myself to sleep.
